Bible Quiz (BQ) is the Scripture memory counterpart to the physical, game-oriented, AwanaGames.
BQ is open to young people in 3rd through 12th grade. This event motivates students to increase their Bible knowledge while giving participants, leaders and even parents exposure to Scripture. BQ tests students’ knowledge of their current Awana handbooks and provides individual recognition and awards.
BQ stimulates Scripture memorization and review. Young people memorize more verses, complete more handbooks and most importantly comprehend more Bible truths when on a BQ team. As the students spend more time preparing for BQ, their parents also become exposed to the truths of God’s Word. BQ also promotes fellowship between Awana programs in the same church as well as other Awana churches.
At the GLM Bible Quiz there are three basic types of questions that are used with age-specific variations:
Speed quiz is a fast-action event which works well at all age levels. Questions used are open-ended. The first team to respond is given a chance to answer the question. If they get it wrong, the second team that buzzed in gets a chance.
Multiple choice is used at all levels. The quizmaster asks a question and then reads a list of 3 possible answers in a multiple-choice format. Each quizzer (team for Trek/Journey) has paddles with letters on them. The students raise the appropriate paddle to display their answer.
Team Written (Huddle) is only used at the T&T level. The quizmaster asks a question and the team of quizzers ‘huddle’ together to discuss the answer and write the answer down on the team's dry erase board. When instructed by the quizmaster all teams raise their answer boards.
